Part 5: Carer roles during a consultation
5 out of 10“Right from the start of my cancer treatment I took my daughter to the various appointments. I worked on the basis that two sets of ears hear more than one. That strategy proved extremely useful. I didn't have to relay what the doctors told me. I just needed to verify the important parts of the discussion we both heard. Also, during treatment I sometimes forgot details but then my daughter was there to remind me."

“Having a cancer diagnosis is overwhelming and confusing, I found it very helpful that my surgeon was happy for my boyfriend to be there and to take photos of diagrams and record our meetings on his phone so we could be sure that the information he gave us could be reviewed and digested later"
Beth*, diagnosed with cervical cancer
