During consultations, you may:
- Support the patient
- Help them to obtain, understand and record information
- Provide important information to the health professional
- Give the patient space to discuss sensitive issues
How you are involved in cancer consultations depends both on your own preferences as well as the patient’s- It is a good idea to regularly discuss with them how they would like you to be involved.
The way you are involved may change over time, depending on how you and the patient are feeling- as well as what the consultation is about.
