Remain alert to cues indicating the family member needs more information
- Look out for cues from family carers that indicate informational needs. Cues may be in the form of:
- Direct questions e.g. “Is this type of cancer hereditary?” or
- Indirect statements e.g. “I don’t know much about the different treatments”.
- Ask family carers if they have any questions or if there is anything they would like to know more about 26 .
“Now [family member] it's important that you feel able to ask questions too. If there is anything you would like to know more about, I will do my best to answer it”
