“Very often the surgeon would answer my partners questions by looking at me I don't think he completely appreciated that the past 18 months was a mutual thing. Yes I was a patient who had the surgery, had the chemo but it affected my partner almost as much as it affected me. And I don't think the surgeon quite got that, so he wasn’t all that open to bringing my partner into the conversation I would’ve been happier if he had been more open to seeing my partner as someone who was going through this as much as me and showing more compassion towards them."
