Part 4: Preparing for consultations
1 out of 7SECTION AIM: In this section we will share ways to help you PREPARE for a consultation with a health professional.
Whilst patients and medical professionals have quite well-defined roles during cancer treatment, sometimes carers are not so sure about what their role is. As the carer, you might take on many different roles.
In the next three sections, we will go through some ways that you can be involved before, during and after consultations with health professionals. There is no expectation that you do all of these things, they are simply ideas you can consider.
This section will focus on what you can do BEFORE consultations, including:
- Read information
- Prepare questions
- Get organised
- Talk about how you will be involved in the consultation
- Check in on how you are feeling
